Born in South Africa, David Bruce studied fine art and graphic design at Natal Technikon in South Africa and photography at the London College of Printing in London.

Best known for his personal work on the Ju/'hoansi Bushmen of the Kalahari, a unique combination of art and social commitment born out of a rare level of contact with the subject.

An artist and meticulous craftsman, Bruce's platinum prints are printed by world renowned 31 Studio, responsible for printing from archive some of the worlds most iconic images from the medium's history.

In late 2006 he founded the Ju/'hoansi Development Fund, supporting education and sustainable development in the Nyae Nyae Conservancy, Namibia.

In 2007 he produced a limited edition book, published by the Ju/'hoansi Development Fund, raising funds in support of the Ju/'hoan people, a testament to his dedication.

The Ju/'haonsi Bushmen call David Bruce 'Bagon/hui', loosely translated it means 'the man that hears'. For most of his adult life he has been plagued with a hearing below speech level, and wear's a bone anchor hearing aid.
